History

Under the leadership and teaching support from the Sisters of St. Joseph, the school was opened September 1, 1876 with eight grades. On September 20, 1908, the cornerstone was laid and was blessed by Bishop Hickey. In 1962 an additional building was erected to accommodate expanding enrollment.
Through the years, St. Agnes School has received extraordinary support from the work of parents, teachers, administrators, parishioners and the community. In 1986 the school was redesigned to accommodate grades kindergarten through six, with full day kindergarten being added. A preschool
program enhances our complete educational package.

Beliefs

Referred to as “The Jewel of the Genesee” and lauded by Bishop Matthew Clark in 2011 as “the best example of a Catholic School in the Diocese of Rochester”, St. Agnes School has been blessed with both exceptional students and a loving, dedicated, highly educated faculty who continue to serve the intellectual and spiritual needs of our students.
Children of all faiths from eleven school districts in both Livingston and Monroe counties are enrolled in the Pre-K thru Grade 6 programs. Small class size creates a strong environment for excellence in teaching and learning.
